Stamped Steel ‘Top Hat’
A machine shop came to us with this oddly shaped stamped steel piece the client referred to as a ‘top-hat’. Their client used to have these stamped in large quantities but now they only need a handful and therefore it’s more cost effective to machine them from a block of steel. The problem is that due to their very odd shape, the machine shop needed a pattern they could use with which to program their CNC. Thanks to 3D scanning, we were able to quickly capture the data our client needed to complete their customer’s order.
