TLS – Laser/Lidar Scan of Large Warehouse Space
3D Scan STL was contracted at the last minute to scan the 7th floor of an old building for a tech company setting up a new data center. They determined the floor was significantly out of level. For the data center, the floor must be perfectly level. Using the Artec Ray II Lidar 3D scanner, We were able to get there the following day to perform the scan.
The scanning process was about 3 hours to capture the entire space which was 6,600 square feet. While the only data they required was a deviation analysis of the floor, the Laser/Lidar 3D scanner (TLS) captures everything. The model shown above is the complete model of the space. From floor to ceiling, every detail is captured.
Because the focus was only the floor, the scans were performed in the center of each set of pillars. So the ceilings details are not as clean as they would be if we were scanning in a tighter grid pattern. Even without focusing on the details above, a tremendous amount of detail is still captured well.
